Southwest Coast Tourism Union

白色雲嘉南logo

Yunlin, Chiayi and Tainan are collectively known as Yunjianan. They are part of a broader tourism union that includes the "blue highways" that connect ports such as Budai to the offshore islands of Penghu, as well as diverse Alishan and the Tropic of Cancer theme of Chiayi. This area offers a variety of sea and land recreational experiences.

Farms and fisheries are well developed here. Salt pans, wetlands and birds abound, and the land is dotted with award-winning landscape art. Classic small towns, farms and fishing villages provide a "slow" culture of open spaces with a local feel, which is all well suited to in-depth travel. The area's industries yield local experts and interesting products, such as mullet roe, milkfish, white shrimp, clams and gentian grouper – all of the highest quality. The four seasons each provides special attractions. Visitors can enjoy viewing migratory birds, exploring the area's culture, eating local delicacies and shopping for local crafts. Immerse yourself in this land and enjoy a sense of happiness for both mind and body!

Salt Worker Lunch Box

Salt Worker Lunch Box

Food has always been a vital element that captures travelers’ taste buds. For this reason, the Southwest Coast National Scenic Area Administration has worked with the food and beverage businesses of the Southwest Coast Tourism Union to create a specialty “Salt Worker Lunch Box” which evokes the region’s unique salt culture and utilizes exclusive local ingredients. By creating new brands that embrace the idea of “remaining local to go global”, the union also provides opportunities for the younger generation to return to their hometowns to start businesses, and promotes local brands such as Kankujen and Central Sea through its partnerships.

The Salt Worker Lunch Box features two specialty items
  • rice dripping with brine.
  • the combination of salt worker tea, which remind gourmands of the Southwest Coast’s cultural landscape from bygone eras.
Savory Favor

Savory Favor

In addition to the abundant varieties of freshly caught seafood, the Southwest Coast is nourished by nature and has carefully nurtured white jade bitter gourd, sweet potatoes, and other agricultural products throughout the area. Operating the overall development module of local industries and creating local production value by leveling up agriculture from production to processing, introducing design aesthetics and brand thinking, and expanding sales channels, are the original intentions of Savory Favor, which has further turned into local characteristics and stories.

Muslim-friendly Environment

A total of 19 venues and businesses that have obtained the certification thus far, and a bilingual leaflet has been designed to inform Muslim tourists about Muslim-friendly shops in the area.
