Koxinga Memorial Park

Anchor

Koxinga Memorial Park is located in the second section of Chengxi Street. It is said that in 1661, Koxinga (Guoxingye, that is, Zheng Chenggong) first landed in Taiwan at Lu’ermen. In order to commemorate Koxinga's deeds, the Lu’ermen Mazu Temple donated land to build this memorial park.

At the entrance of the park is a magnificent red gate in a traditional Chinese architectural style (pailou). On the left as you enter the park is the Chenggong Forest, of trees planted to commemorate the 350th anniversary of Koxinga's landing. Inside the park is a tall statue of Koxinga and a monument with the inscription “Monument to the Landing of National Hero Koxinga at Lu’ermen”, with calligraphy by Chiang Ching-kuo.

The rustic grounds, with restful pavilions and spacious walkways, is now a popular place for neighborhood residents to take a stroll after dinner.
