Pack light and embark on an interactive journey and embrace the natural ecology in a delightful mood.
In Qigu, Tainan, you can appreciate a spectacular view from the top of a salt mountain, or delve into the intriguing culture and history of the salt industry in Taiwan at Taiwan Salt Museum. Among all, the most popular itinerary is to tour around the lagoon on a bamboo raft and devour fresh and fine oysters. The best time of the day is the afternoon, during which a stroll in the countryside is absolutely pleasant. You can also try spot some fiddler crabs hiding in the wetlands. These are all characteristic attractions of Qigu that await your visit.
Shifen Salt Residence is a hostel in Qigu built entirely by the owner himself. Pushing through the wooden door into the backyard, you will see distinctive decorative lightings made of oyster shells, installations of egrets and fiddler crabs made of waste motorcycle parts. The pavilion, table and chairs are handmade works of the owner as well. The spacious, well-lit and cozy suite can accommodate a family or a group of friends. Visitors are welcome to get up close with the tidal ecology and experience fishermen's daily life.
